Description

The firm, founded in 2013 and based in San Francisco, primarily invests in rounds with 4-5 participants. While SignalFire is a significant backer, startups also receive funding from other investors such as Kortschak Investments, L.P., Y Combinator, and UpWest Labs. Notable co-investors include Kortschak Investments, L.P., Accel, and General Catalyst. The fund typically attracts subsequent rounds of funding from FirstMark, Shasta Ventures, and Kortschak Investments, L.P. SignalFire has 10 key employees and has shown a preference for investing in startups valued between $50-100 million. The fund has been particularly active in 2019, although it tends to lead fewer investments compared to other companies. SaaS and Artificial Intelligence are among the thriving investment areas for SignalFire, and its portfolio includes successful startups like Zume Pizza, AnchorFree, and Grammarly. The firm does not have a specific preference for the number of founders or the age of the startup, but it does prioritize leaders with a unique passion and perspective.
