Description

Pykus Therapeutics, founded in 2016 by ophthalmology residents at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School, has created a novel biodegradable hydrogel to replace the use of intraocular gas during retinal surgery. This innovative material eliminates the need for face-down positioning, inability to see for weeks, and inability to fly for weeks, providing a more comfortable and successful surgical experience for patients. The company's advanced material for surgeons offers protection and eliminates the requirement for retina positioning, making retinal surgery less painful and more successful.
