Greg Johnson
A Prolog co-founder and managing director, Greg has been active in venture capital for more than 30 years. He has played a pivotal role in the early-stage funding of companies like Genelabs, Novellus, UroCor and Stereotaxis, all which later went public. Prior to Prolog, Greg was a general partner at the venture capital firm Gateway Associates, where he focused on early-stage investments in medical technology and advanced materials. Greg began his investing career in 1985 as vice president of venture capital at Monsanto. There he oversaw Monsanto’s $80 million portfolio of venture capital investments and was one of the architects of its international network of venture funds, including its pioneering technology fund in the UK. Greg holds a doctorate in physics from the University of Rochester and a bachelor’s degree from MIT.

Prior to co-founding the firm, Brian was the CEO of vaccine developer Megan Health. He led the company from its founding in 1993 to its acquisition in 2000 by AVANT Immunotherapeutics. Prior to that, Brian was tapped by Alafi Capital to head its medical technology commercialization partnership with Washington University, A/W Company. Brian began his professional career at Washington University, where he held a tenured position, headed a research laboratory, and created a monoclonal antibody core facility. He holds a doctorate in immunology from Indiana University and was awarded an NIH-sponsored postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University.

Prior to Prolog, Ilya co-founded, with Teddy Shalon, technology incubator Metaphase and several healthcare-focused start-ups created under that umbrella, including antimicrobial material developer BioPolymerix and diagnostic instrument company Metaphase Ophthalmic. Ilya’s entrepreneurial career began in 1984 when he co-founded, also with Teddy Shalon, Ivy Technologies, a developer of medical software subsequently acquired by Alcon (then a unit of Nestlé and now a division of Novartis). Ilya studied at MGPI in Moscow, Leningrad University, and Odessa University, and holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics.
