Venture Capital Experience: Connecticut Innovations (Largest venture capital firm in CT focused on investing in tech-based businesses) (2015-2017) Fostered the success of early to mid-stage businesses. Led the analysis and review of high-potential candidates for investment, conducted due diligence, market research, authored investment memos and term sheets, performed company valuations, built capitalization tables, pitched investment opportunities to a board of directors, and closed deals. ► Sourced, structured, and negotiated investment deals with companies in the fintech, medical device, clean energy, legal technology, healthcare IT, and SaaS verticals. ► Led and co-led investments totaling over $27MM, managed a portfolio of 30 companies, represented CI on the boards of 8 corporations. Total investment in this portfolio was over $100MM. ► Provided resources, mentoring, and pre-seed funding for a legal technology firm, providing the foundation for that company's $20MM acquisition by a Fortune 500 company. (2013-2015) ► Administered the Pre-Seed Fund and maintained accountability for over $7.5MM invested in 70 tech-based businesses. Sourced, screened, and closed deals; assigned risk ratings to the portfolio, and collected returns. (2012-2013) ► Developed and managed the TechStart Accelerator Program, a business bootcamp that provided $300K to 13 tech startups. Coached teams to build business talents and fundraising skills; created a curriculum, secured mentors, and orchestrated 2 pitch events to potential investors. ► Ran the CTech incubator space, home to over 15 companies at Yale’s Science Park. Negotiated and structured leases and brought mentorship and resources to startups. Michael Wisniewski received his bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut, majoring in Law and Society. In 2010, he received his master's degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Connecticut School of Business, majoring in Venture Consulting. Michael also received Certificate of Commendation for his outstanding performance as a Special Operations Parachute Rigger while in the United States Marine Corps and earned other professional certificates from the Venture Capital Institute and Stanford University.
