Description

Compaq was founded in 1982 and became the largest supplier of PC systems during the 1990s before being overtaken by Hewlett-Packard in 2001. The company offered a wide range of personal computing products, including desktop personal computers, battery-powered notebook computers, AC-powered portable computers, and tower PC systems that store and manage data in network environments. Compaq was acquired for US$25 billion by HP in 2002, and the Compaq brand remained in use by HP for lower-end systems until 2013 when it was discontinued.
