Anthropic secures $450M, becoming the second AI startup in terms of funds raised

AI startup Anthropic solidifies its industry standing, ranking second to OpenAI among investment recipients

Anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup, has successfully raised $450 million in funding from notable investors such as Spark Capital, Google, Salesforce Ventures, Zoom, Sound Ventures, Menlo Ventures, and other companies.

This funding round has propelled the company’s total investments to $1.45 billion, positioning Anthropic as the second highest-funded AI startup (OpenAI holds the first position with $11.3 billion).

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei expressed excitement over the support received and stated that they were thrilled that leading investors and technology companies were supporting Anthropic’s mission. He further mentioned that the systems they build deliver robust AI that has the potential to positively impact businesses and consumers.

The newly acquired investment will be utilised by Anthropic to advance the development of safe and practical AI solutions, create an advanced next-generation AI assistant, and further enhance the ongoing testing of their Claude chatbot in closed mode.

Notably, Google has invested approximately $400 million in Anthropic, and as part of the agreement, Google Cloud will become the startup’s primary provider of cloud services.
