Indian streamers will be required to continuously warn about smoking hazards
Indian video platforms to feature tobacco disclaimers

The Indian authorities have implemented changes to the legislation concerning cigarettes and other tobacco products, specifically regarding content on streaming platforms.
Under the new regulations, streamers will be obligated to display a 30-second disclaimer about the effects of smoking at the beginning and middle of each video. Commercials featuring smoking scenes must include text highlighting the hazards of tobacco consumption, and advertising of cigarette brands will be prohibited. These amendments will take effect in three months.
The Ministry of Health and Support, along with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will oversee compliance with the new rules. The specific penalties for violating the law are currently undisclosed.
It is worth noting that India is one of the largest markets for tobacco products globally, with over 260 million people engaging in some form of smoking within the country.
