Gmail users will now have AI-powered assistant to compose emails

The Duet AI service has been designed to streamline business correspondence, rendering it more efficient and hassle-free

Google is set to introduce Duet AI, a virtual assistant, to its Gmail email service. This AI companion will be accessible to all Workspace users on various devices, even in offline mode.

The AI is expected to assist with a range of tasks, including those related to meetings, document creation, and chat management. A standout feature, as emphasised by Google representatives, is Duet AI’s ability to craft extensive and personalised emails tailored to the user.

Duet AI will activate when users click the “Help me write” button, offering various email text options. This AI leverages user-specific keywords, the tone, and the context of the ongoing message thread.

Documents will also incorporate a feature allowing users to modify text style, condense text, or generate subheadings. Users can customise the AI’s suggestions, making them more formal or concise, as desired.

Furthermore, Gmail will introduce an “I’m Feeling Lucky” button, akin to the one found in search results. In the context of composing emails, this button will provide a selection of pre-written responses for user convenience.
