63% of IT professionals are worried they’ll be replaced by AI within five years
Research findings indicate that developers harbour concerns regarding the advancement of generative AI
Technology company Ivanti conducted a comprehensive survey involving 7,800 participants, including employees, managers, and IT users, to evaluate the impact of artificial intelligence on work processes.
The findings revealed that 63% of IT professionals harbour concerns about potentially losing their jobs within the next five years due to the emergence of generative AI. Interestingly, when faced with technological challenges, a significant majority of office workers (58%) expressed a preference for seeking assistance from human counterparts rather than relying on chatbots.
Simultaneously, 56% of IT experts believe that AI tools hold more benefits for companies than for their employees. Ivanti’s experts assert that organisations should allocate resources to cultivate DEX (Digital Employee Experience) – a framework designed to enhance the interaction between people and AI systems.
Jeff Abbott, CEO of Ivanti, emphasised that AI and automation advance rapidly, and the true challenge for DEX is to amplify productivity, streamline work processes, and elevate employee value.
An earlier survey encompassing 1,000 British companies reported that 83% of top executives perceive the proliferation of automation as a catalyst for encouraging employees to acquire new tools and skills, ultimately enhancing the overall work quality through AI implementation.
