Chatbots can use caps lock to shout and attract human attention
ChatGPT and DALL-E now emphasise messages with caps lock
After integrating the DALL-E 3 image generator into the ChatGPT chatbot, testers discovered a peculiar issue. DALL-E was found to “scream” at ChatGPT, providing instructions on how to handle situations when OpenAI servers are under heavy load.
Photographer David Garrido shared a message with DALL-E, cautioning against instructing or requesting images until a new request is received. The use of capital letters in the message was notable.
Artificial intelligence expert Eli David reflected on the incident, noting the evolving nature of machines communicating with each other, with humans being mere observers. AI expert Simon Willison suggested that the use of capital letters signifies confidence in grabbing the attention of both humans and machines.
