Robot companies urged not to use their developments as weapons

Six robotics companies team up to warn politicians and the industry

Six companies specialising in robotics opposed their developments being used as weapons. Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics, ANYbotics, Clearpath Robotics, Open Robotics, and Unitree Robotics have signed an open letter to this effect.

Company representatives promised they will not work on robots that can be used as weapons, and will not support such developments.

They believe that combat robots with remote or autonomous control, accessible to people and able to move to new territories previously inaccessible to them, can cause harm and create serious ethical problems

The companies promised to make every possible effort to ensure that customers who buy from them do not use the devices as weapons. The coalition called on other companies and politicians to follow the suit.
