App uses WiFi signals to monitor health of single elders and track their movement

Zoe Care unveiled Zoe Fall, a game-changer in elderly care

Zoe Care, a real-time fall detection and alert system, has just unveiled its product that utilises Wi-Fi signals and how our bodies influence Wi-Fi reception to detect humans and their activities.

Using Wi-Fi signals is a non-intrusive solution that tackles privacy and ease of use challenges seen in traditional remote monitoring technologies. The device, which also functions as a smart plug, gathers and analyses Wi-Fi signals through a sensor. In case of a fall, the signals are translated into alerts on a mobile app. One device can secure multiple rooms or an entire floor, offering an efficient and cost-effective solution.

According to Piotr Antonik, co-founder and CTO at Zoe Care, the company is currently testing with nursing homes, and a consumer version will be available by the end of the year. The fall detector will be provided as a subscription service, costing approximately $20-25 per month in the US.

Unlike other solutions that need substantial computational power and cloud processing, Zoe Fall’s algorithm is directly embedded in the Wi-Fi receiver to ensure complete privacy. The company claims its technology equals or even exceeds the performance of other solutions, making it an excellent choice for caregivers who value both efficiency and privacy.

Zoe Fall is easy to set up: the device captures Wi-Fi waves from an existing internet box or router. The built-in AI in the sensor analyses wave changes to identify movements and detect falls. If a fall is detected, it sends an instant alert to the caregiver or relative’s smartphone.
