Apple’s key partner, Foxconn, has chosen to double its investment in India

Taiwan's Foxconn is actively working to reduce its dependency on China

Taiwan’s Foxconn, a key partner and primary device assembler for Apple, is set to double its investment in manufacturing operations in India. The company aims to significantly expand its workforce, foreign investments, and overall business scale in India by 2024.

Currently, Foxconn employs approximately 40,000 individuals at its facility in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This expansion is part of their strategy to reduce their reliance on China, a move accelerated after a strike by Foxconn employees at a Chinese plant in Zhengzhou, prompting the company to expedite production relocation to other Asian countries.

In addition, authorities in the Indian state of Karnataka have announced that Foxconn will invest $600 million in projects focused on producing iPhone components and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Foxconn’s representatives have expressed their belief in India’s significant potential, emphasizing that the multi-billion-dollar investment represents only the beginning of their long-term commitment to the Indian market.
