Canadian authorities introduce new immigration rules

The Canadian government has announced a series of changes to its migration policy aimed at attracting a larger number of foreign professionals to the country.

Sean Fraser, the Minister for Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, revealed the government’s intention to position Canada as an appealing destination for digital nomads. The new regulations will allow remote workers employed by foreign companies to stay in Canada for up to six months. If these workers secure employment with a local company, the duration of their stay can be extended, although the specific extension period has yet to be determined.

Furthermore, the Canadian government will carefully consider 10,000 applications from individuals holding US H-1B visas, offering them a three-year work permit in Canada. This initiative is aimed at attracting foreign specialists who have been impacted by significant layoffs in the United States.

To foster economic and innovative growth, the government has also committed to granting five-year work permits to select professions in Canada. This measure is designed to facilitate the country’s development in key areas.
