The Chinese company Didi recently showcased a prototype of an autonomous taxi capable of independently loading luggage with the assistance of a colossal mechanical robotic arm. Notably, the Didi Neuron model does not feature a driver’s seat.
The vehicle boasts an integrated screen for accessing online games, while eight cameras and various sensors are strategically placed around its perimeter. Zhang Bo, the company’s chief technology officer, revealed that the Didi Neuron will support Level 4 self-driving technology, making it “fully autonomous and controllable”.
Expected to be released in 2025, the 4.5 meter Didi Neuron will join Didi’s Robotaxi, an existing robotic taxi currently operating in parts of Shanghai and Guangzhou with a safety driver.
