The ambition of Intel Capital is to reshape the landscape of the labour economy

Intel Capital, the venture capital firm, has injected $9 million into Figure, the developer of humanoid robots. This investment has granted Intel Corporation’s investment division a stake in the company. The infusion is expected to expedite the launch of the commercial autonomous humanoid robot, Figure 01, with the aid of Intel’s tools and expertise.

Figure specialises in crafting a versatile humanoid robot capable of multitasking, including tasks like ascending stairs, opening doors, and manipulating small objects. This innovative robot has the potential to replace human workers across various sectors such as warehouses, logistics, manufacturing, and retail. Representatives from Intel Capital express confidence that Figure’s creation will reshape the perception of artificial intelligence and significantly impact the labour economy.

The Figure robot boasts the ability to lift up to 20 kg and achieve speeds of 1.2 m/s. Standing at 170 cm tall and weighing 60 kg, the model can operate continuously for up to five hours on a single charge.

Previously, Figure secured funding totaling $70 million from investors including Parkway Venture Capital, Aliya Capital, Bold Ventures, and others.
