Intel spins out Articul8 AI – an AI-powered enterprise software
Intel is breaking new ground in AI with its spinout Articul8
Intel is aiming to make significant strides in the AI-powered enterprise software market by creating a new platform company. This venture was supported by DigitalBridge, an asset manager and investor based in Boca Raton, Florida.
Named Articul8 AI, this new venture expands on a proof-of-concept resulting from Intel’s collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in early May. According to Reuters, Intel utilised its hardware along with a mix of open-source and internally developed software to establish a generative AI system. This system is capable of processing text and images, operating within BCG’s data centres to meet their security standards. The system was crafted at Intel over approximately two years. Recently, it was refined to suit BCG’s particular needs, as reported by CRN.
In the beginning, BCG was the exclusive supplier and user of the system. In recent months, Intel has expanded the platform’s reach to industries like financial services, aerospace, semiconductor, telecommunications, and others, which demand high security and specialised knowledge, as stated by an Intel spokesperson.
According to the spokesperson Articul8’s AI software is designed from scratch to meet enterprise requirements, prioritising quick deployment, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness. The spokesperson stated that the Articul8 platform ensures AI capabilities while keeping customer data secure within the enterprise perimeter. Additionally, the platform offers deployment options, allowing customers to choose between cloud, on-premises, or hybrid setups.
Arun Subramaniyan, previously a VP and GM at Intel’s data centre and AI group, will serve as the CEO of the spinout. The Articul8 team will consist of former Intel employees, with Intel retaining an undisclosed ownership stake in the company.
