Motorola revealed a groundbreaking smartphone designed to fold around the wrist like a watch, showcasing the innovative “adaptive display concept” developed by its parent company, Lenovo.
Featuring a flexible 6.9-inch Full HD Plus POLED display, the smartphone can stand on its side and adapt to various shapes based on the user’s needs when folded. While it is confirmed to run on the Android OS, Motorola has yet to disclose further details, including production and sales plans.
Notably, Motorola had previously presented a prototype folding smartphone, the Rizr, with a retractable screen. Concurrently, Apple has also patented a folding, buttonless smartphone with a flexible screen. Industry analysts anticipate the sale of 18.3 million foldable smartphones by the end of 2023, marking a 43% increase from the previous year. The surge in popularity is attributed to the expected affordability of foldable smartphones, according to experts.
