Oman has pledged to raise seven smart cities from scratch
Newly built cities in Oman will become home to at least 150,000 people each
At a real estate development conference in Oman, the country’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning signed agreements to design master plans of seven future cities in the sultanate.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the seven smart cities are Salalah, Sohar, Greater Nizwa, Haima, Ibri, Bausher and Khor Grama in Sur. The written agreement entails developing urban master plans for all new areas.
Covering an area of 20mn sqm, the urban development plans are expected to house over 40,000 residential units, benefiting more than 150,000 people.
The development of new cities is aligned with Oman’s urban strategy, whose third phase envisages master plans for Greater Muscat and Greater Salalah.
