Scientists created an inflatable screen turning touchscreen into push-button
US specialists have successfully developed an OLED screen that can be inflated

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University have developed an OLED screen with an inflatable keyboard that can be activated on command.
The display has an outer panel and miniature electric pumps inside that inflate and deflate fluid at different locations on the screen. With each button inflating by 1.5mm, the touch screen can closely resemble a conventional keyboard when needed.
The device is compact, thin, self-contained, lightweight, and can withstand strong pressure. The scientists believe that the technology will not add thickness to smartphones or tablets and could also be beneficial for individuals with visual impairments.
