Tesla has ceased the sales of right-hand drive Model S and Model X electric cars in Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and the UK, leading to a surge of cancellations from customers who had placed orders years ago.
However, Tesla has devised a solution to facilitate the transition to this new driving configuration. In the UK, left-hand drive EVs now come equipped with a Reacher, a telescopic stick with a built-in gripper similar to a smartphone holder for selfies. This “grabbing stick” enables drivers to conveniently retrieve parking receipts or restaurant orders from the passenger window while seated in the driver’s position.
It is worth noting that British users, who were not adequately informed about the replacement of the right steering wheel with the stick, have not shown considerable enthusiasm for these innovations.
