The first ever 3D-printed rocket will be sent into space

Relativity Space launches a rocket that is 85% 3D-printed

A light launch vehicle Terran 1, developed by Relativity Space, will be launched from Cape Canaveral (Florida, USA). 85% of its parts are printed on a 3D printer.

The 10-story tall Terran 1 rocket (33.5 metres long and 2.2 metres in diameter) consists of nine Aeon 1 engines in the first stage and one Aeon vacuum engine in the second stage.

As part of the test run, designers are looking to evaluate whether the 3D-printed elements can withstand space flight.

The Relativity Space representatives said they had already tested the rocket under loads similar to space flight loads.
