The UK now offers driverless electric car rentals that come to your location

Get a taster of future car rentals with Imperium Drive's remote-controlled electric vehicles

Imperium Drive, a British startup, introduces Fetch, an electric car rental service that utilises remote control technology. The app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

Once a user reserves an electric car, an engineer from the company remotely guides the vehicle to their location. After the rental period ends, clients can leave the car in any permitted area, and the engineer will direct it to the next customer or the Imperium Drive parking lot.

Initially available in Milton Keynes, the service aims to expand its coverage area while working towards fully unmanned electric vehicle operation. Currently, one engineer oversees a single vehicle, but future plans envision specialists controlling up to 50 electric vehicles.

Imperium Drive highlights an extensive 18-month testing period, with vehicles covering over 1,500 km “without a single collision.”
