Winamp will come back after 10 years of neglect, but now as a streaming service

Last updated in 2013, the famous Winamp will be reborn

The renowned Winamp service will be available again, but not as a media player, but as a streaming service. The platform was last updated in 2013, it’s now time for a revamp.

In the new service, 85% of the revenue will go to the musicians – a nice message to 1 million artists Llama Group intends to engage with.

Alexander Sabunjian, CEO of Llama Group (owner of Winamp), mentioned that the streaming revolution left behind many musicians who lacked control over music sales and distribution. It’s something the new service intends to fix.

The updated Winamp will be available to performers from March 2023 onwards, and to the general public from 15 April. The service will work on Android, iOS, web browsers and Windows. In the future, the company will enable the  artists to launch non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
