Zoom expands its product line to compete with Google and Microsoft

The uncontested leader in video calls during the pandemic wants to add the calendar and email services

Zoom is planning on releasing more calendar and email functions. The aptly called Zmail and Zcal features may be made available by November, putting Zoom as a direct competitor with Slack, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace in the field of messaging.

Zoom experienced a rapid growth during the pandemic, with the video calling app’s revenue increasing by 319%. That being said, the firm hasn’t created any new or innovative products for their clients in the Covid years.

With an established user base, Zoom has a strong foundation to expand on. In the US alone, 470,000 business clients already use the app. At that, users are now returning to the offices and Microsoft Teams and Google Meet are growing in popularity.

Expanding Zoom’s product offering to include the email and the calendar should help the company retain and boost client loyalty. Users may find a comprehensive experience that spans calendars, emails and web conferencing to be enticing – and in line with what Zoom’s main rivals, Microsoft and Google, are already providing.
